Former U.S. Department of State official Stephanie Schmid won the Monmouth County Democratic organization line, defeating former United Nations staffer Christine Conforti and former journalist David Applefield by a wide margin in a contest conducted using vote-by-mail ballots.

Schmid defeated Conforti by a vote of 267 to 144 (62%-34%), with 17 votes (4%) for Applefield.
